REVIEW| IMAN LUXURY CONTOUR TRIO* and GIVEAWAY! [CLOSED]

I have an obsession with finding products that can contour and highlight my face while maintaining a natural appearance, so when a trip to the Iman Cosmetics store in Menlo Park, Pretoria ended up with a gift of the beauty brand’s latest contour trio palette, I was ecstatic!

Iman Cosmetics™ prides itself as a beauty brand that caters for ‘all women with skin of color’ and you can definitely see that beauty philosophy in its Luxury Contour Trio*. The contour and highlight palette consists of three gloriously pigmented shades – an illuminating champagne-gold highlighter, a warm copper bronzer and a deep-toned contour shade that looks beautiful against dark skin tones.

Bronzer for dark skin
All three shades are highly pigmented.

My biggest struggle when it comes to contouring and highlighting has always been finding the right shade of contour product (powder/ liquid/ cream) to compliment my skin tone. I want the product that I use to create a natural shadow that doesn’t make my skin look ashy or muddy. Being a woman with a dark skin tone has meant that I’ve gone through products that either blended right into my natural skin tone (which defeats the point of contouring) or just looked harsh (too grey or too red) against it. The contour shade from the Iman Luxury Contour Trio* is the one that got me really excited about the palette because when I saw it, it looked like the perfect true brown that would give me a picturesque sculpted look. When I swatched it I noticed that it is actually a bronzey brown, so when you apply it to my skin tone it creates the illusion of a bronzed natural shadow. I can’t complain- I love it!

Bronzer for Dark Skin
The contour shade blends in seamlessly to give a very natural shadow.

The bronzer has a beautiful copper tone that warms up the face really well, however I do add a bit of my MAC ‘Raisin’ blush to get a deeper hue. Because it has such a natural glow to it, if you have a darker skin tone you can easily apply it across your entire face (with a light hand) for an amped up dewy look.

I've used all three shades to give me this radiant natural contour and glow.

The champagne-gold hue of the highlighter has a yellow undertone that works well to brighten up the high points of my face, but I use it sparingly to avoid drawing too much attention!

A compact contour/fan brush is included in the kit.

I’m really impressed with the palette – all three shades are highly pigmented and finely milled, so blending is a breeze. The palette also comes with a contour brush and a compact mirror, an essential travel-friendly feature for those of us who are always doing last minute touch ups in the car. I’ve really taken to the palette, hence the high praises! For those of you who are interested in purchasing it, it’s available at Stuttafords for R379.60 or online at imancosmetics.co.za

  2. This contour palette looks amazing on you! I struggle with finding a suitable contour shade as well. I'm so glad I stumbled across your blog. Thank you so much for sharing this! I'm so excited to try this pallete out the next time I'm in stuttafords. I hope this product is sold in Durban. One question.. is the highlight shade as prefect as the contour shade. Does it look ashy? It doesn't look like that in your pictures but I'm just wonderingbecause that's another issue I have

    1. Hey Jacqueline!

Sorry for the late reply. The highlight shade isn't ashy. It's a yellow gold shade when blended out. It can come off quite bright, hence I use it cautiously.

Thanks for commenting and I'm glad you enjoyed the post.
